Empowering the Digital Generation: The DARWIN Erasmus+ Multiplier Event at Escola EBS Dr. Vieira de Carvalho

In the vibrant city of Maia, a groundbreaking event took place at Escola EBS Dr. Vieira de Carvalho, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance online safety and digital literacy. This multiplier event, organized by the Portuguese partners in collaboration with The House of Psychological Ideas from Lithuania, IT partner Faceit, and the Portuguese parents association APEECEGV, was a cornerstone of the DARWIN Erasmus+ Project. It brought together students, parents, and educators in a shared mission to cultivate a safer and more informed digital community.

Uniting for a Common Cause

The event was a testament to the power of international collaboration and community engagement. The Portuguese partners, alongside their Lithuanian counterparts and technical experts from Faceit, crafted an immersive and impactful program designed to address the pressing issues of online safety and digital literacy. With the support of APEECEGV, the event emphasized the crucial role of parents in guiding their children through the complexities of the digital age.

Engaging and Informative Sessions

The day's agenda was filled with dynamic workshops, insightful seminars, and interactive panel discussions. Students were introduced to the principles of digital literacy, learning how to navigate the internet responsibly, critically evaluate online content, and safeguard their personal information. Through engaging activities, they developed essential skills to become savvy and secure digital citizens.

Parents attended tailored sessions that addressed the unique challenges of parenting in a digital world. Experts from The House of Psychological Ideas provided valuable insights into the psychological aspects of online behavior, offering strategies to support children in managing screen time, avoiding cyberbullying, and fostering healthy online habits. The IT partner, Faceit, demonstrated practical tools and technologies that parents can use to monitor and protect their children's online activities.

A Holistic Approach to Online Safety

A highlight of the event was a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring educators, psychologists, IT professionals, and representatives from APEECEGV. This dialogue underscored the multifaceted nature of online safety and the importance of a holistic approach. It became clear that creating a secure digital environment requires the combined efforts of schools, families, and technology experts.

The event also showcased success stories and best practices from the DARWIN Erasmus+ Project, illustrating how communities across Europe are working together to promote digital literacy and online safety. These inspiring examples reinforced the idea that collective action and shared knowledge are key to addressing the challenges of the digital age.

Building a Resilient Digital Community

As the event concluded, participants left with a profound sense of empowerment and a renewed commitment to fostering a safe and literate digital community. The multiplier event at Escola EBS Dr. Vieira de Carvalho was not just an educational experience; it was a celebration of unity, collaboration, and progress.

Through the combined efforts of the Portuguese partners, The House of Psychological Ideas, Faceit, and APEECEGV, the DARWIN Erasmus+ Project is making a lasting impact. By equipping students and parents with the knowledge and tools they need, this initiative is helping to build a resilient digital generation capable of navigating the online world with confidence and integrity.
